Our Story

Throughout our history, MINDS has embodied its mission of empowering every individual with special needs and their families to enable them to participate as fully as possible in society. We are grounded in the belief that every individual with special needs has innate talents and strengths to be nurtured. We provide a continuum of programmes and services to optimise their outcomes and quality of life.

Our Beginnings

Forged by a commitment to provide equal opportunities for every individual with special needs, MINDS was founded by a group of philanthropists to provide education for children with intellectual disabilities. Starting with just 26 children in a classroom in 1962, MINDS has since grown to be one of the largest and oldest social service agencies caring for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
